As part of its mandate to protect drinking water supplies in Massachusetts, the Division of Water Supply is empowered to impose water conservation measures in the event of water supply emergencies, pursuant to MGLA c 21G, ss 15 and 17, as amended by St 1989, c 240, s 101. Series is created to declare a state of water emergency and to impose water use restrictions upon affected communities.
